Gallery
The Gallery pictures reflect current preoccupations and influences, including the type of West of Ireland and Atlantic Seaboard studies with which he has been associated and which continue to interest him.
However, they also show the more recent influence of the Mediterranean, following time spent in his studio in Spain; both in its Iberian aspect and, perhaps less obviously, with reference to the Southern and Eastern shores of the Roman Mare Nostrum, including Africa and the Biblical lands.
Pierce has also created a number of new works to commemorate events throughout 1914/18, including the 1916 Easter Rising (see below), plus an innovative decorated Irish Hare as his contribution to this year's Jack & Jill Childrens Foundation fundraiser. The hare is currently on display above the Pygmalion restaurant in Powerscourt Shopping Centre, Dublin, and features QR codes which link viewers to various web sites with (tongue-in-the-cheek) hare associations. Details of this project can be seen here.
